Project TB2 - Update 2
« on: 02 April 2007, 22:04:18 »

Fitted a new interior light, as old one was broken.

Fitted a new thermostat, and a new coolant cap.

Flushed the coolant several times again.

Cleared all fault codes that are not current, so I can see new ones, and flashed gearbox.

Got the Bose setup working, after getting a carpass.

Still to fix:
I think it still has cooling issues, though its much better now.
Climate panel needs replacing with the spare in my garage.
Drivers check strap needs fixing (is it welded?)
Oil sump plug has stripped thread, that needs sorting (how?)
Desperately needs another oil change.
The alloy centre caps need replacing - Tunnie and I acquired some the other day ::)
MID may need replacing - thanks Tunnie for the spare.
Need to fix the coolant warning.
Need to fix the brake pad warning.
Need to fix the washer bottle warning.
I don't think the A/C works.
Passenger speaker grill is smashed.
Rear door speaker not working.
Need to put wipers on that didn't come off a mini!
Need to sort out why the ECU is complaining about the coolant sensor.

Sump plug.. is it the plug itself, or the thread in the sump? If the sump's stripped, there's not much to loose - let me try and re-thread it, like I did my V6 cylinder heads ( ;D )

What colour is the speaker grill, I may have one...

I can also give you a rear door speaker

What about the performance issues.. and also more importantly.. what are the symptoms that lead you to think it's got coolant probs.. and under what conditions to the probs occur...

Don't know if its sump or plug, and won't until I that it out.  I think its sump, as the plug is going to be stronger than sump.  Any help on this greatly accepted! (Despite your young age :P)

Its the beige/cream interior.

Its a Bose speaker, but a normal will do for now!

The performance issues may be just because its a tractor, and the cooling issues may now be almost sorted. I do not believe the 2 are related ;).  I cruised flawlessly at 90mph down the A43 from Silverstone to Brackley after I went to see Tunnie....

Your getting there TB  :y

Im sure your be able to sort the MID out re: its sensor probs

Brake pad sensor is probably missing
Washer bottle sensor is prolly gunged up.
Coolant level sensor is prolly knackered.

Replacing sensors or bottles ( in the case of coolant bottle, not sure if you have to replace the washer bottle to replace the sensor) will more than like fix......or as you know shorting the wires on the loom going to the sensors has the same effect of shutting the mid up!  ::)

Coolant bottle does need replacing anyway.  2nd hand ones are rarer than rocking horse poo, as different to rest of range.  Shame, as I have a spare petrol one in garage.  The coolant bottle in scrappy is knackered as well...

Other MID warnings are easy enough, although the MID won't allow Tech2 to talk to for long enough to do much...

The Bose system uses the standard Omega speakers... just shows how much better they et when you amp them!  :)

There is a TD in a scrappy by me.  How could i tell if the coolant bottle  is any good?  Anything else you need?

They are only about £30 for a new one (petrol), so I may get a brand new one.  Or block up the extra hole on a V6 one...

Trouble with 2nd hand ones, does the coolant level switch work??

It would appear they fail when the connector gets wet with sticky antifreeze (ie when people miss filling bottle, or bottle popping its cap)

No, not yet. Believe it or not, the Intercooler fan comes on only with rad fans from what I can see from circuit diagram....
