Could someone tell me the difference between DVD+R and -R disks.

I have to get some for my home DVD player, it can record on either but I dont know which would be the best to get.

Use a DVD-R, they are better. (can't tell you the technicals, but my expert here in work orders a 1000 at a time for our CCTV systems we sell, and says that for clarity of evidence, they can't be beaten.)

think of it as Blueray Vs HD DVD, it was a format war + vs -, some manufactures would only do one or the other. No real difference or benefits in either, just a different way of it being written.

1: A full -R disc cannot be written to a blank +R as it holds slightly more information.
2: -R discs were more compatible with DVD hardware as the information that was written to it was done in a similar way to how CDRs were written to.
3: +R discs had the potential to be written to at a much higher speed than what was possible with -R discs.
Points 2 and 3 were arguments used by supporters of the different formats but have become redundant now. Point 1 remains valid however

I think it might be better to get the +R from what Nick has said.

Might get a few -R as well and have a play.
