According to the insurance company who have just determined that it is not an economic repair.

I was quite pleased with that - I thought it was worth about £700.

No doubt, after I've had a cheapo repair done on it, they will be charging me the £700 difference to insure it when the policy comes up for renewal.

Anyone got a bumper for sale? :)

Got a front bumper reinforcer (bit that plastic bumper bolts onto) + brackets + bolts for sale if interested PM me :y

It's a Cat C write-off.  The insurance company says there's no problem with the insurance, so I can continue to drive it, and that there shouldn't be any problem with renewal.  They also said that I need to phone VOSA to find out if the car does need a VIC - they think that not all Cat Cs need the VIC.

I have no idea if they are correct, so I'll make that phone call today.

Thanks to the OOF "Parts for sale" forum, I seem to have sourced all the replacement parts I likely to need at very reasonable prices.  Now all I've got to do is find the car documentation - I (very commendably) put it all in a folder, and now I've mislaid the bl**dy folder.  No V5, no MOT.  :(

Have a bit of excitement, Drive it here to Spain (no V5 or MOT). Have a nice holiday at my gaffe.

Then I will drive you to the airport .

Make a new start with a facelift Omega (see OOF cars for sale) . I will look after your old one in my " OOF museum" :y ;D ;D ;D

Considering it was the first offer, I think the office trainee has put one too many zeros on the cheque. Wise not to argue the toss in this case imo.
Nice one Jereboam, A bit of a lucky break imo. :y

My son was rear ended by a woman driver on a roundabout recently, Y reg 206 hdi nice little car, he really liked it,
His insurance wrote it off,and offered him £900.
Their second offer was £1900,which he has accepted.
So it pays to play the waiting game if you can afford to.

After all the input £1040 is a fair price for any 99 mig. I paid £1000 for my lovely 98 MV6 manual 2 years ago. Despite the recaro leather, Bose, rear screen, cruise, Irmy springs, engine rebuild new full Vx clutch,cambelt/water pump, wishbones, track rods, tyres, brakes regular oil & filter changes & god knows what else it's still only worth a grand to sell. So i'm not selling it. I trust that car to take me anywhere, anytime & it does. I just hope it does'nt get written off bacause as you say if the ins offer you book price then knock off your excess you can be left with very little. Guy.
