Tax rises?
« on: 21 September 2010, 12:09:52 »

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/liberaldemocrats/8014722/Motorists-and-holidaymakers-face-green-tax-rise-of-800.html

Chris "Daft as a Box of Frogs" Huhne has "backed plans to increase environmental levies by £15 billion to free hundreds of thousands of people from income tax."

The Energy Secretary, who addresses the Liberal Democrat conference tomorrow, told delegates today that he had not yet determined where extra green taxes would fall, and asked them for ideas.

But insiders confirmed that, realistically, such a large increase would come largely from carbon duty – meaning more pain for motorists and holidaymakers.

Of course, these taxes will burden industry greatly. What happens then? Prices go up. What happens then? Demand falls, wage pressure increases and people lose their jobs. Who? The lower-paid, of course.

Stagflation: the real enemy. Pity Huhne is too dim to recognise that.

BTW, I didn't vote LibDem for the very reason that they don't understand anything. Now, we are run by them.  >:( >:(

.. and they haven't realised yet that they can't trot out daft policies like this, safe in the knowledge that they don't have a hope in hell of getting the opportunity to put them into practice. >:(

They whine on about not getting more of their manifesto pledges into policy after all, they did win several seats. ;D

Yes, I think it's about time that we had the custard of complacency kicked out of us by political theorists like the Rt. Hon. Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change (with disciples).  The notion of the dog wagging the tail would be somewhat difficult to bear.

After all, it's coming off a broad back. :y :y

I would be glad to contribute more, in the way of taxes, to free the great unwashed from poverty.

Unfortunately, I don't work, so I can't. ;D

I have to admit I am worried about what action the public will take over these cuts. :(
Already, the police are voicing concerns over 'civil unrest' and due to cuts, they, (the police) would not be able to cover demos.
If fuel goes up, I think that will be the start of demos, and what happens then....the anarchists seize on the opportunity to bring in the violence >:(
