Download the latest software from SE use the usb cable that came with the phone and follow the on screen instructions, whilst it usually sorts the phone, you will lose any games, numbers etc that are stored on the phone.

An Idea would be to transfer as much as you can to the memory card in the phone (if it will let you)

another possibility if the above fails is that the battery is goosed, if it holds a charge then it might be ok.

Martin, without insulting your intelligence not what I'm intending, but as I don't know what you've checked ?.........

1 when you switch it on, do you have time to see how much power is in the battery ?.  Wondering if the batteries failing to hold charge ?.  Can you try another battery if you suspect it ?.

2. Does it still shut down if it's on charge ?.

3. Has your daughter accidently dropped it at al, which could have damaged it ?.

4. Know it maybe a pain to have to do, but do you have the instructions to it still, and is there anyway of re-setting the phone to the default settings.  Know that you'll lose all the information on there, as it's almost like a 'format' I believe ?.

I'm no expert, but just trying to help you by asking a few questions, which may help, as someone on here may know better with a few questions, if you understand what I mean ?.  :y

Lee = How much did you put in the swear box then ?.  ::)  ;D  ;D  ;D

Well it is two years old, a phone shop person says it is knackered, I am wondering if it is the battery.

Might try the OS

Did remove SIM and battery - this helped a little.

Was wondering if a cable was failing

When it shuts down, does it just go black, or do you get the "White screen of death"?  Not sure if that affected the W380 to be fair (it certainly affected older models)..

I have an LG phone which is 6 months old and it does the same thing.
I took it back to Carphone warehouse were i got from and they suggested that I took it to there branch at the Fort shopping center (Birmingham) as they have engineers on site that can repair it
It maybe worth a phone call as your not that far away

well, having seen it, i'd have to disagree....

what you have is a Samsung Omelette , or perhaps a Samsung Omnia Pancake.

it is impressively fubar
