I snowboard.... actually booze does help! But, not too much. Its about being smooth with your turns, pint or two does soften you up and you absorb the rough sections better.

I've had a few bad crashes where I had to sit for 10 mins to recover, but its all good fun!

Snowboarding has less injures than Skiing generally cause your locked into the one board, less broken legs and such.

I used to find the same with Windsurfing - cruise over to the wet bar, have a couple and cruise back. The cruise back was always much faster 

(Think a board would just flat out sink with me standing on it, now, sadly!)

With snowboarding I have the opposite problem, big feet = wider than normal board, but I'm tall and don't weigh that much. So its harder to turn, my problem is i don't tend to get low enough or bend knees enough to get low and really put some power in the turns.

Booze + impact shorts help, as crashing does not hurt!
