bike insurance renewal
« on: 14 July 2011, 11:59:39 »

Just done the renewal for my bike this morning.  Did the comparison websites thing and got a few quotes, one of which was with my current/previous insurer.  The top 4 or five companies were the same to within a couple of quid of each other, including the company I'm already with.

The rub is, the online quote is £53 odds cheaper than the renewal rate already posted out to me.  Given that the insurance premium posted out is below £200 anyway, thats a fair old percentage of a discount for getting it online rather than simply accepting the figure they first quoted!

I'm guessing your a man who compares like for like (if they give you all the info >:().

It may be a sweetener to new clients or it may be a sneaky caveat missing!

Have you checked excesses, breakdown cover, legal cover,  blah blah?

It's not inconceivable that they've seen your avatar on here and decided you're a risk! :D

My house insurance went up for no apparent reason, but when I looked on Google street view, I saw that the external repairs were half-way through and wondered if they saw that and bumped up the premium as it looked/looks awful.  I trust them not an inch.
