Possible they didn't allow it to warm up enough first.  mine always fails on first attempt, but passes easily on 2nd

I think on the new automated system the analyser lists 0.2 as the limit and any excess gives a fail.  Once the tester inputs the specific make and model then it adjusts the max limit for pass/fail to 0.3 as thats whats allowed for the models age.  If it fails that then there is the mark1 manual method of referring to the printed books and authorising a pass manually.

The lads certainly failed (just) at its first pass last week but quickly passed when the model details were input.

But would prefer an authorised tester to confirm, if poss.

Top of my head for the omega  the 0.3  natural idle limit is on the basic test and the second(cat) test limits are 0.5 so i wouldnt be too concerned tbh.

That's what I do, as the place I use is only 2 minutes from my house. I leave 20 minutes early and give it a good blast on the duel carriageway to make sure it is nicely warmed up and any cobwebs are blown out.  Recent service/filters won't do any harm, and fresh fuel if its been sitting a while.

I always take mine for a good run before i take the mig in for an MOT that way it will always be nice and warm.

Why the concern?

The MOT isn't worth the paper it's written on to start with, and if that's all they could give an advisory on then you're laughing.

Cold cats are the usual culprit, failing that I have heard of some stuff called cataclean which may help next time round.
