I need the twin cat exhaust section 3.0 MV6 estate
« on: 24 June 2007, 21:47:33 »

Just replaced the mid boxes and back box sections only to find my twin cat section is going. To top it all off I drove over a hump in a flipping doctors surgery yesterday and heard a nasty clang of metal. Today she sounds like a monster truck and I think its that section!

Has anyone got a section I can get hold of pronto? If so get in touch with the price. Second hand is fine, my ex-rozzer estate is a bit of a filth machine anyway (although she drives fantastically).

Cheers! :y

What a bugger

Sorry I didn't get as far as your place today to look at the Aux belt

I have some cats in my shed, only problem is, I sold them on eBay! The buyer still hasn't got in touch to collect them weeks later, even though they sent payment!!!

No worries bud I ordered a cam cover with rubber seal off of ebay (thought I may as well if we were doing the aux belt) so until that arrives we may as well hold off from doing aux belt. Yeah let me know on cats if they dont sell. Thanks bud! 8-)

No problemo.. we can change the cambelt cover too. Not much more work to get to it.. just the crank pulley, PAS pulley, Water pump pulley, Aux belt tensioner, Bagpipes and Secondary air injection ;) ;D

I would say 'you'll never believe this', but I have a feeling most forum members WILL believe this.

Car was MOT'd last week and as part of the work I asked the garage to do a simple job that any cretin could carry out; namely fitting a brand new rear box and central sections to my Omega MV6 estate.

Yesterday she's blowing like mad after scraping on a hump so I took her into a DIFFERENT local garage who are fairly good lads. They whipped her up in the air and low and behold the bloody exhausts are literally RESTING in place with bolts hanging loose! My cat sections are fine for another 6-12mths, and within 10 minutes some new bolts were fixed in place and she sounded normal again.

Deary me I am going to call the garage who MOT'd her and give them a mouthful now the muppets! Not that they'll care.

Only problem now is I have a puddle in my passenger side footwell after the monsoon rain last night. Going to look on this forum as I am sure someone else had that and I had it on my Cavalier I think its a seal of some kind.... :-/

It's a blocked scuttle drain...
Clear the leaves out of it ;)

Glad the exhaust's sorted.

Do a search for "scuttle drain" to solve the puddle!

Yep did a search cleared the scuttle and got drenched. In revenge I took her up to local Jet Wash and booked 2 minutes in. I got my own back using the High Pressure Rinse. You should have seen the crap that came out. Looked like a pig had climbed in there!!

Clean as a whistle now. Risky I know, but I VERY carefully cleaned off some of the oil and grime from the engine block area. I would never usually do this but JamesV6CDX will understand after he saw the state of it. It was therapeutic to say the least.

So, I now have a sweet Omega 3.0 engine all the balancing and alignment sorted, no exhausts blowing, no leaks into footwells and no leaking cam cover gaskets. With the aux belt replaced I think my work (JamesV6CDX's!) will be done. I dont think I will consider bodywork as she is likely to be a donor car. I like the image though of a filthy looking estate (aspirational image rather than literally 'filthy') which has a brilliant motor and mechanicals running underneath. Using it to go to Slough tomorrow from Bristol and back, then again on Thursday and Friday (200 mile round trips), so I'm glad everything has come together today.

This weekend I will most likely change the oil and oil filter as she will have done about 700 miles since JamesV6CDX cleared out the crap that was in it (was like marmite!). Thanks all of you for your help and advice!!  ;) :) :D 8-) :y :y :y
