Gm v lemforder w/b bushes after Newent.
« on: 08 September 2010, 20:46:09 »

Thanks to Hotel21 it was possible to compare the two at Newent, as there was a suggestion the gm where superior, as opposed to being the exact same part made by lemforder as is the current theory afaik.

Can we confirm they are the same part as best we can tell? Or otherwise
They where fitted before I arrived so never saw them  :(

From the looking at that the assembled company gave them, the part number indensts were exactly the same on both.  All that was missing on the Lemfoder ones was the GM logo - and you could actually see where the mould had been engineered/amended/GM deleted.

So M_DTM and I would certainly appear to vote Lemfoder as the original supplier of these plus, remember the difference in fitting them?  Fairy liquid as opposed to a bit of spit?

Will have to say that, despite the ones removed appearing relatively undamaged, the change in the car is quite noticable.

Thanks....   ;)   :y

Re-read of your original post Chris.  It was Lemfoders that were fitted to mine, and some other to the others....

edit - Oh Cock....

My wishbones were the GM ones.  The rear subframe bushes were Lemfoder...

The wishbones appeared exact copies, other than the Lemfoder ones had additional ( appeared hand done) welding around the perifary of the bush mountings whereas the GM ones were machine welded and only partway round.

Apologies for the confuddlement....  :-[

Ah good, not just me that gets in a fiddle stick now and then. ;D  :y
Interesting(well sort of) re welding, noticed similar on my old ones compared to the new lemforder wishbones now fitted. So the advice is still sound, lemforder same as gm for less. :y

To clarify, it was the REAR Lemfoder bushes with the same part numers and machined out GM logo.

The front bushes appeared to be no names in a differently welded set of arms, where the Lemfoders had welds almost all round the bush mountings (and apparently, hand done) whilst the GM ones were only partway round but, in my opinion, machine welded.
