Correct me if im wrong
« on: 21 April 2007, 23:27:34 »

A mate off mine has just bought an omega 2.6 v6 cd and the speedo clock only goes upto 140mph i thought these come with a 160mph clock. Also i noticed when i fitted a nokia handsfree kit that that computer display has got finger prints on it. Which makes me think that the clocks may have been changed because the interior ie the door card handles seem to be a bit worn to reflect the milage that the car has done.

Just to let you know it is on a Y plate and done 70k ish. Do you think i should get him to hpi it as i dont think he got any previous mots for it just the 12 mth one when he got it.

always advisable to HPI

could just be maybe the display screen was damaged and they decided to replace the full dial panel, but then ya wouldnt just for a broken display screen..

Personally, I'm a suspicious git.  Far too many years as trafpol lets me smell sh!t in a perfume factory.....

HPi the car and pay the couple of quid it takes to ask DVLA who the previous owners were.  And then contact them to confirm their part in the cars history.  Contact the VI (or VOSA or whatever they call themselves now) and they may give the previous MOT history.

Ultimately, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and craps on the grass like a duck then its the ....faintest wiff of excrement....

Mine' a 2.6 Y-reg, and definitely has the 160 mph instrument panel... it's a  CDX, not CD, but I doubt if this makes a difference...

just had a look at some clocks on CD on trader, they all 160 for 2.6

if your clock says 140 then would you be going much faster than your speedo reads?? if indeed it has the wrong clocks, the speedo needle would have needed to be re-calibrated i would think, cos lookin at the clocks its not as if they just added 20mph to them, the space between the numbers looks slightly reduced so the 160 on it seems to be the same place as 140 on the 140 clocks

that making any sense?

All v6 are 160mph (except the calibrated plod ones, which I think are 150).

4 pots and tractors are 140mph.
