oily deposit advice needed please
« on: 14 May 2007, 20:04:20 »

yesterday I noticed some thing strange under the bonnet. on the panel that runs under the radiator and anti role bar there was a pool of what resembled engine oil although alot thicker. this fluid was also coating the anti role bar and the outside of the pre volume assembly. I removed the intake ducts to find a small pool of the fluid lying inside the pre volume assembly. inside the air intake duct from the air filter box was a sticky deposit on the walls of the duct. I looked at the block to see if I could find any signs of oil leaks but all seemed ok .Any body got any ideas of where this has come from :-/
Thanks in advance Tony

As Dazzler said...

The red lines show the route that the brown muck takes when dripping from the breathers (the black box on top of the plenum) into the Throttle Body:

Take off the breather box and Throttle Body and give them a good clean, before your cam covers start leaking....

And make sure your airfilter is clean.....or the engine will try to source its air through the crank case!
