engine management light
« on: 09 July 2007, 07:02:09 »

On way back from Billing yesterday my engine management light came on and stayed on all the way back to London, would assume will need a Tech 2 plugged into it to find out what the problem is?

Read the maintenance and FAQs and appears can't do paperclip test as after 99 model?

What are the common faults when the engine light comes on?

If my experiences is anything to go by the common one would seem to be 73 MAF but this is rarely the problem..closley followed by /19 crank sensor/22 tps/cam sensor.if you do test without engine running will bring up 31 engine rpm but that goes when start engine,so is best to flash out when running...but if car is running ok you may just have a air leakage issue as would seem to be one of my problems..vauxhalls do seem to bring this light up only to often..speak to TB or Mark dtm as those guys are most helpfull..i wish you the best of luck with your search

Through reading the posts I may have found what the problem may be e.g., emmissions problem, this would potentially tally with the fact that I topped the oil up before I left billing, as mine had been drinking a bit of oil since, the oil light came on before I got to Billing (MAY HAVE TOPPED THE OIL UP TOO MUCH?)

Don't have any oil leaks as these have been done, so may be something needing cleaned out? breathers?, something else?

The car is running fine the same as always, drove back yesterday from Billing via Huntingdon/cambridge then M11 back into London.

I assume the breathers are all nice and clean.

You need an OBDII compliant reader to get the codes out of the 2.6.

Not sure about the breathers to be honest I have never touched them as I don't know how, take it there will be a how to in maintenence?, is Jaime's TECH 2 OBDII compliant?

Yes, the Tech2 will do the reading no trouble.
