Seat pretensioner Question
« on: 21 July 2007, 23:27:43 »

Hi Chaps Quick Question About seat pretensioner

I am Buying some MV6 Seats for my Car and the Chap I am buying them off Kindly offered to take them out and when I phoned him he said the pretensioner on the drivers seat had gone off when he was removing the wiring to it. I asked Him if he had disconnected the Battery and he had not I guess this is why it fired. He said it really smelt.

My Question Is are all pretensioner's the same ? Can I take the pretensioner off my normal CD cloth seats and replace it with the fired pretensioner off a leather MV6 drivers seat ? And how Hard is it to do ?

Thanks
Craig

I have been reading about this red key is it attached pretensoner and it just slots in ?

I hate messing with Pretensoners and air bags as i dont like loud bangs lol

I know there were 2 types of Pretensoner older mechanical onesand newer Pyro ones.

The MV6 seats to be fitted are facelift with airbags so should be the newer type, Just a case of swaping over the Pretensoner with the red key in and the Battery disconnected and a small wait before anything is touched

The red key applies only to the early spring fired pre-tensioners and not the later pyro-technic ones.....they can be swapped over and I have some spare if you want one (not fired!).
