MPG & Performance
« on: 20 July 2007, 10:44:44 »

Hi

Now I know this subject may have been asked before but I'm struggling to find any definitive answers,

My 2001 2.5V6 has done 75k miles I have recently changed the cam cover gaskets due to oil in the spark plugs, however it still feels under powered and Im only getting 18-20mpg which is a mixture of town driving and short B road 60-70mph runs.

I've changed the spark plugs and air filter and would welcolme any advice on how to improve it.

Cheers guys!!

I'd be interested in any suggestions for leak tracing this too. Im sure my '99 2.5 should do better than 17-18 round town.  Trouble is, nothing is obviously hissing away...

I believe using a cut-off piec of hose and putting it to your ear as you trace it around the engine is a fairly good method :y

Whilst engine is at idle and warmed up, spray carb cleaner around all the likely places. If it finds an air leak then the idle will change, then re confirm and rectify ;)
