So whats the later/best backplate to use with the new bearings in the shiny kit from the dealer??
3 kits, having backplates marked D, EB, or 01 depending on age.  From memory I think D and EB are intercha... ...oh I can't remember, someone check the cambelt DVD

OOOOOOOHH!   ;D   :y

Just because my DVD is mislaid, my car is potentially broken and I hijacks a thread to ask a simple question of you load of clever folks.......  Bahhhh, humbug......   :P

 ;)
Stella flowing too well tonight, playing havoc with my (already poor) memory ::)

BTW part# 9120501 was superseded by 93188674.

      Pete :y.
that is all i need to hear as the person selling it said it was for my engine  >:( but that cannot be helped now any body need this kit as it seems it will be no use to me any sensible offers? it was sold to me as the new stronger kit (it says 337054 EB on tensioner and 90530599 39 on the belt if this helps) So what kit number do i need to get? thanks again for all the help.

If you want to buy a new kit you need to supply your Eng.# to make sure that you get the correct kit :).

And your one is supposed to be the '01' one?

I think the D and EB are freely interchangeable, but to use a EB kit on a 01 requires you to swap backplate.  Just hoping someone can confirm...

Just watched the relevent section of the excellent cambelt change DVD, and it says the unit is not interchangable, but unsure if this means purely as a unit (and swapping backplate will be OK), or if completely different.

Marks_DTM_Calib will know, but is not around for a few days.

Can't help you on this one - apart from suggesting to call the stealers and ask the questions you're asking here - (omit the ebay bit though ;)) You may be surpised and get the answer from the horses mouth as they say - some are quite helpful
