Missing keys, what are my options?
« on: 15 September 2007, 11:26:08 »

What are the options for dealing with an omega without any keys.  Mine ahve totally vanished and after having the house upside down the only thing i can think of is that i've dropped them after i've locked the car and someone has picked them up.

Is it possible to get replacement keys and if so where from and what does it cost?

not sure exactly what you'll need, blades can be obtained from ebay but as far as the fob's concerned, could be costly, some people been known to be charged about £80 for replacement keys from Vx...

car pass and V5 needed for fob programming

you didnt do a "will-floyd" and lock them in the boot did you? :-[

If you have the car pass or have made a note of the key number Vx should be able to duplicate the keys for you not cheap though you will have to have them syncronised to the car as well I think You will need proof of ownership of the car when you order them.

I recently bought a replacement key from this chap. He is on Ebay and deals in all sorts of keys. Obviously, you would not be able to get the blade from him but you could probably get the fob. You would need the car pass and V5 then to get it synchronised. Probably needs to be done on Tech2 depending on your car year and model. Don't know how much help this is because even if you got into the car you couldn't start the engine.  :(

Perhaps I'll just toddle back to the 'general chat' area and leave you all to it.  ;D

RF type need Tech1/2 and the immobiliser PIN from carpass to program the immobiliser transponder and the remote fob.  This is in addition to getting the mechanical key correct.

It's a 96 omega with an RF fob.  It's like something out of the twilight zone is this.  It's a fairly big bunch of keys so i'm sure i'd have noticed if i;d dropped them.

They're not locked in the boot as i remember locking the car up using the fob as I was walking away from the car.  The best bit is that the V5 is locked in the car so I would actually need to get in before I can get replacements made.

I called an auto locksmiths just down the road and they want £120 to do a new key and the pass code is £20 from vauxhall.   Local vauxhall dealer want £140 but they won't do it without the car being there so it would have to be towed to them, fob was another £85 :(

My main concern is that if I have dropped them all my house keys were also on there as well as my keys for work and the fob to deactivate the alarm at work.

What a bloody nightmare :(

When new transponder and remote fob is programmed, get them to erase all old keys from the ECUs

Found your keys yet?

I'm pretty sure someone would have pinched your car by now if you'd dropped them around there. Checked the local police station to see if they've been handed in?

I was sort of thinking the same myself but I live up a priavte road and as such we only get the odd person up here early in the mornings walking their dogs, it's usually very very quiet.

I'm willing to put money on that my 3 year old son had had hold of them and hidden them somewhere but we've literally tore the house apart this weekend and can't find them at all.   They were reported missing to the police on saturday morning.

I really need the car for work so am now resigned to the fact that i'm going to have to get a new one made, been onto a locksmith this morning who wants £120 to do it.

Also just had to smash the small window at the back in order to get into the car as the logbook was in there and I can't get the car pass thingy from vauxhall without it :(  More expense!!
