Estate Badges?Cha
« on: 27 September 2007, 14:54:15 »

Chaps,

Are the badges on the tailgate stuck on or are they located with a peg through the bodywork? I'd like to de-badge it probably with a view to re-badge it as an Opel (see my Introduction thread in the Newbies section!) but I don't want to pull 'em off if it'll leave holes everywhere :(

Any info would be appreciated.

no! They are just stuck on. It would probably rust if there were holes present. Don't get too rough with it if removing. Take it steady. There are various methods for removal.

Heat - hair dryer, hot water - apparently will help remove them.

Also, an old credit card is handy for scraping off bits.

.....after it's been well and truly exhausted of course  ;D  :y

Make sure you've got some good polish for cleaning up the whole area when finished. Autoglym Super Resin Polish should do it. I've heard the boiling water trick also  :y A bit of white spirit might also help.

Thanks guys, got the Vauxhall and the Elite badges off ok and cleaned it all up afterwards. What about the Griffon Roundel? Is that justs stuck on? That might take a bit of persuading as it's recessed!
