« on: 22 October 2007, 20:17:36 »

Whilst i am repairing damaged chrome strips thought i would have a go at the front as well..have read that the black front quarter bumper trims can be removed by screw inside wheel arch and another under the headlight trim??is there any more fittings or just those 2 then the quarter bumper can be removed..also anybody had any experience of replacing the front bumper quarter chrome trims??part number for nearside would help if anybody knows and idea of cost..thanks

The bumper consists of just 2 main bits - the black unpainted bit and the coloured painted bit. If a textured bit is damaged it's a 'new' bumper ...... same problem as me. I naively thought that an Omega bumper would be in various bit like a Seantor's, but they're not! :(

Thanks Andy B...brilliant design then ..if you get a small mark on the black textured quarter bumper you have to replace the whole thing including the painted unit..no wonder they were 30k new

I had a smart repair man to do my black bits on the bumper, it had some deep scrapes, he sorted it, and re-textured it afterwards... £20

If you need to find a smart repairer, ask at a local garage that sells cars, they all use them, and can put you onto one.

im sure ive seen the black bumper corners for sale on ebay before so they might be able to come away from the main bumper, have you spoke to vauxhall and asked if there is a seperate part number for the corners ?

YThanks Mahony.

Will give local crooks a call later today..sure somebody else on forum said they are removable without taking allto pieces..the problem is minor but have a crease on the edge of the black quarter bumper which has also indented the chrome strip..expect if local repairer does work it would require filling and unsure how good that would be..apart from that chrome strip looks nasty so if i was replacing 1 part would better do both..they must be able to be removed alone..will have a closer look later.
