Bad tyre wear, steering?
« on: 26 November 2007, 19:58:30 »

My neerside tyre has had excessive wear on the outer edge of the tyre. I have thought about getting the tracking checked, but on previous cars both front tyres have worn. Also when you turn right or on a rounderbout the tyre seems to try to skid rather than turn. I have checked for play but cannot find anything obvious and looking from the front of the car the tyres look like they are the same.
Is there anything on the omega steering or front suspension that might cause this especially on one side only.

Any help appreciated, and thanks for help on previous threads.

i would have the suspension checked, especially camber.

The omegas suspension is adjustable, if it is out of tolerance then this could explain the strange wear

Thanks for your reply. Could you tell me the best place to get it checked, ie garage, tyre sales, main dealer? (I live in staffordshire)

Caster/camber/toe are all adjustable....

If scrubbing into corners the tyre shoulder is already shot.  Adjust the alignment before replacing tyres and all should be OK.
Wheels in Motion certainly gets my vote....

Check up/down movement of steering idler, probably got play in it (common problem on Omega), had the same issue earlier this year.

Cheers Pete
