Problem 1

was driving along and the orange engine electronics light lights up, i pulled over as soon as was safe, turned the engine off and the lights, read the handbook to see what it meant then started the car again only to find that the orange engine electronics light had gone out.

SHOULD I TAKE IT TO VAUXHALLS TO BE DIAGNOSED?

Problem 2

as i am driving along at lowish speeds 10 - 30mph i can hear a noise, (will try and describe it) it sounds like WHOOOMP WHOOOMP WHOOOMP, now when ever i have encountered that on a mk2 cortina it has either been a knackered diff or a wheel bearing.

DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT IT COULD BE PLEASE?

Problem 3

also getting a noise from the exhaust (i think) like a constant ticking, its more noticable on acceleration.

AGAIN. ANY THOUGHTS PLEASE?

think thats it for now.

thanks in advance Tony

WHOOOMP WHOOOMP WHOOOMP

A rumbling noise? I'd check for play in any of the wheel bearings, check the diff oil level and look for any leakage from the diff.  I've also had defective (or flat!) tyres that have made this type of sound.

That might well be an exhaust manifold gasket leaking.

Check exhaust manifold gasket,or there may be a crack in the manifold itself.
