deisel smell and engine management
« on: 08 December 2007, 11:34:17 »

I've had my omega 6 months and love it but on a recent trip to cornwall it began to labour when starting. Previously it always started perfectly? Since then I have noticed a faint deisel smell, and the car has lost power momentarilly between 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gear changes. Somebody has told me that it sounds like the deisel filter is clogged, although I do have a reciept for it having been changed the week before I bought the car? Does this sound right and would it starve the engine enough to cause engine management problems. Thanks in advance for any tips.

Jamie

Sorry forgot to add that its a '99 2.5 cd, hope someone can help? :-?

Does it not start up first turn of the key or starts but then labours?  Poor starting when cold could be glow-plug problem or if it does start when cold then could be a fuel supply problem.

Thanks for the help guys, its finally stopped raining so I'm off to try and sort the problem. The car seems more difficult to start when parked facing uphill and struggles to tick over initially? From what you've said it sounds reasonably straight forward, and it still goes really well once its running. Fingers crossed!

Thanks again
