Omega 2.2 CD Auto 2003
« on: 12 December 2007, 20:24:24 »

I've recently bought an Omega 2.2 CD Automatic. It seems a bit thirsty around town. Have'nt taken it for a long run yet. Any suggestions on the MPG I should be getting.

All the best.

Prince.

My 2.2 manual gets 27 around town but with lights and heaters on at the mo it's dropped to 23  :-/

Your auto will be slightly less I think  ;)

Auto - average 26 overall, mainly short journeys, on a run 34/35.

Breathers and throttle body regularly cleaned, new plugs every 12 months, oil changes 3/4K.

cold weather is hurting mpg at the moment!

When i started off this morning the MID said it was -6.0  :o

even comming home its always been in the -1 or lower!

So driving around constantly in below zero temp, with heated seats on, rear window heater, heater fans on full, lights on, radio, all will combine to give crap mpg!!

Mines averaging 28 at the moment, on my 10 mile heavy traffic commute... engine barley has time to get warm  :(

If you have a look on this spreadsheet you will find loads of data from members of the forum about all manner of Omega performance and maintenance related things, including general and journey specific MPG figures.

If you would like to contribute then please PM me an email address and I will add you to the list of collaborators.

Bet you havent cleaned in ages........it all the extra weight of the dirt causing the increase  :y ;D

Having said that mine only does 15mpg in town and 23mpg on a run........tho as its on lpg.....im not bothered..........

You could probably say 18/19mpg in town on petrol and 28/30 on a run on petrol.

But i do tend to have a heavy right foot about town.......and its an auto.

PS Dont believe AA's figures as we all know he doesnt go over 45mpg  ::) ;D ;D

Roof bars and a plastic boat on top don't help either.  And I've written to the local council as the salt on the roads is making my car mucky and I want to know what they intend to do about it - they haven't replied yet ;)

Is that in case of flooding?  :-/ Tho you realise its not going to do the omega fuel consumption much good submerged in water whilst you sit in the boat on the roofbars paddling away  ::) ;D
