Climate control starting to play up - windows misting up as though re-cycle button was pressed even though it isn't. Anyone had similar problems?

Can you hear a change when the recycle button is cycled on and off?

I believe the flap is vacuum operated so if it's not moving (airflow sound should change noticeably) it could be down to a problem with the vacuum system causing it to be stuck in recirculate mode.

Failing that, check that the chamber in which the pollen filter sits below the scuttle panel on the passenger side is clear of water - sometimes the drain hole blocks.

Might be worth changing the pollen filter as, if it's clogged, you could be getting insufficient air to demist.

Lastly, have a look at the air vents at the rear of the car (in the first aid kit cubby hole) if thse are blocked it could be that air is not exiting the rear of the vehicle as it shoud.

Thanks Kevin - recirculate is the word I was looking for.
From memory, the noise from the fan/air increased when the the recirc. button was pressed and it does not seem to do that now. I reckon its a problem with the flap, just wandered if anyone had delved in there before to give me a few tips. Can you access the flap via the two central dash vents or is it better from underneath (ie glove box / centre consul area)
Pollen filter is pretty new but will check drain hole and also air vents in boot.

IF you remvoe the under dash cover above the passenger foot well.....you will see the re-circ flap.

Check its operating when pressing the re-circ button.

Also, what sort of pollen filter is fitted.....it needs to be the correct carbon loaded one or the pollution detector will keep sticking it into internal re-circ mode.

Pollen filter is cheapish white one bought from Autovaux - 3rd one I have fitted over the years with no (seemingly) detrimentel effect.
Will get under dash this weekend and check recirc. flap.

Wrong type then....it needs to be carbon loaded in order to stop the system automaticaly going into internal re-circ to often and for sustained periods.

Does the system do this by default (when left on "AUTO"), or only when you've enabled auto-recirc by double-pressing the recirc button?
