To me, this suggests either the HBV (Heater Bypass Valve) itself, or the matrix/piping to matrix.
The HBV closes when the heaters are set to cold, cutting off the water supply to the matrix. So the problem is somewhere HBV onwards.....

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will confirm.....

Don't quite understand the problem you have.  Are you saying that you are leaking water?

I am leaking a small amount of water on my DIY LPG and i recon the water pipes from the HBV to the evaporator are to blame.  When i connected the water pipes to the HBV i found it very difficult due to lack of space, so im sure this is where my problem is - Sounds simular to your problem too...
