Facelift or not?
« on: 13 February 2008, 11:44:10 »

Morning all,

Possibly a very silly question I know, but do bear with me.  :-?

I should be picking up the car at the weekend (finally) and am now wondering how to tell whether or not I have a mini-facelift version?

I've had a look thorugh the FAQs and tried searching the site but can't seem to find something definitive that says "Your Omega is a mini-facelift if it has X or Y on it".

 :)

Headlights are the biggest external give away......if they have what look likes magnifying galss type lenses in them behind clear plastic then its mini-facelift......assuming they have not been retrofitted!

Other changes are slightly more suttle.....what year is it.

as mentioned headlights will be projectors, but the biggest signs for me are:

Radio controls on the steering wheel!

Also solid head rests rather than open sqaures.

Ahh, thank you gents.

It was registered in 1999, so it qualifies on that basis.

And shocking though it is, I cannot say for certain whether it had controls on the steering wheel. I'm 80% sure that it does though.

As for the headrests, well I know that it had them, but didn't spend a great deal of time looking at them.

But it sounds as though it is a mini facelift model then, which I will confirm at the weekend when I pick it up.

It should be, the miniface lift appeared in 97.5 model year.....

Did it? I thought it was in 1998. Shows how much I know!!

Which is why I wanted to be certain, in case it was registered late as a 1999 vehicle when it was built in 1998.

I'll make sure I have a good look at the headlights too then and then  refamiliarise myself with the interior.

steering wheel controls are the biggest give away.

minifacelift came out half the way though 97 year... but nearly all are registered on a 98.

Also if it's a elite mini-facelift it should have  a irmscher front grill.

My Aug 98 registered cars are both mini facelift so unless yours was sitting unregistered for a year or more, it should be mf

Right, well I'm confused.  Looking at the What is facelift/prefacelift? post in the FAQ section (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152617112) I thought I had the prefacelift as I have the electric window switches on the centre console.

However from this thread it looks like I'm wrong as I also have the HID lights and the steering wheel controls.  This is on an April '99 Elite.

Guess I should have read the FAQ thread a bit slower!

Ok don't get confused.

prefacelift are cars 1994-1999/2000

Facelift 2000-2003

There was a mini-facelift in 1998 where the 1994 car was updated spec wise, and minor exterior changed. The electric window switches are on the centre console on pre-facelift cars (to 1999/2000)
