BLOODY CARS ANNOYING ME NOW!!!!
« on: 18 February 2008, 13:02:57 »

Hiya!!!

Hope you guys can help?
Had a problem with the car (1995 2.0 16v CD) kept cutting out amd proving to be a right bastard to start, and if it did start it would cut out again after a few miles. I have cleaned out the IACV and the breather jet.
Saw on the forum how to do the paper clip test. I had the codes 19,73 and 92.

I read them as,

19 = crank sensor
73 = Airflow temp
92 = Cam sensor

Change the sensors an did the paper clip test again, this time it came up with just 19 = crankshaft sensor

Car still buggers about on starting and only does it when it wants to under much protest.

sounds like its timing is way out when turning over. but when its running the fiancee says it pulls like a train. can`t test it out myself as my licencse does`nt come back until april.

Is there anything else i can try? or will anything else bring up that code?

Thanks in advance guys :y

Regards

Frankie

Replace the Crank sensor NOW

it will likely leave you stranded soon.

Dont worry about the other codes until that is fixed, they may dissapear with the 19 anyway ;)

Yeah, crankshaft sensor has been changed at the same time as the rest of them. really at a loss now!!

Military road? I live in Eastbourne Avenue ( Brockhurst Road end) just round the corner.

Could it be likely that the wire`s connecting the crank sensor are dodgey? Think I am just clutching at straws though. also it sound like its pinking when started and revved. old crank sensor practically fell apart when removed.

This is really starting to get to me now, ear bashing from the missus etc!! frustrating is not the word!! >:( >:(

Bloody hell, I was in Gosport this weekend. Could have soon had a crack at that for you.

I recall being driven down Military Rd on Sunday, by some crazy bird in an Omega estate, at about three times over the speed limit ::) ;D

(Well, it would have been rude not to test the sport mode on the new gearbox)..  8-)

Had exactly the same codes and prob on mine.
Crank Sensor / Cam Sensor / Air Flow Temp Sensor.
It kept cutting out sharply and also didn't want to start.
It turned out whilst i serviced it a few days earlier i cleaned the IACV, breathers and cleaned the cam cover out and forgot to turn the ignition off whilst taking some of the electrical plugs off, when reassembling everything the connections weren't very good on the cam sensor and IACV either.
In fact i hadn't connected the IACV :-[ at all.

Got back under the bonnet, cleaned and reconnected them again.

Had the codes wiped clean, and now runs sweet as a nut.
Crank Sensor hasn't flashed up since either.

Hope this helps.

That is something i will try!!! never though of that :-?
Is that quite common for those connectors?

If that fails, anything else I can look for?
