Suspension strut (knocking noise)
« on: 20 February 2008, 09:00:26 »

[/color Can anybody tell me what it is going to cost me to have the front suspension struts replaced on my T reg (99) 2.5 CD, or where i could order the parts myself, as im getting sick of paying 35 pound an hour for labour.
                                    Thanks Paul

Knocking from the struts area is rarely the strutt and more often than not the anti roll bar drop links which cost about 20 quid a pair and take about an hour to fit (i.e. its easy!)

I've done this job a couple of times and it is very easy, but had a non genuine drop link fail after a very short time. I'll bet it's the offside one which is defective. For some reason the nearside seems to hang on forever.
Might be better to buy OE from Vx. with a Trade Club card, obtainable through membership of Autobahnstormers.

Cheers lads it has helped, just tried to feel for any play but couldn't feel any in the drop link, even when car was rocked, but i could still hear it, as its a simple job i'll do it anyway, but if i still get it any other suggestions are most welcome.

My goosed drop link showed up better when you lifted the car to bounce it rather than pushing down on the wing to bounce it. They're a piece of p*** to change.
