I recall de-coking a head once, it was a b1tch to get off, we soaked the upturned head in Redex overnight, it did soften the coking.. it as good as dropped off the next day, so, in my opinion it works :y  There is another angle however, if it losens cr4p, what will it losen in the fuel tank and pipes and duly block the filter / injectors etc.. :-/ :-/

There's always Mr Muscle Drain Unblocker!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
Quite right!

The other thing we used to do with 2 strokes was boil the exhaust baffles in caustic soda dissolved in water (poor man's Mr Muscle drain cleaner...). Took all the crud off a treat.

Spooky.

i almost always use supermarket fuel. :-[

I was of the opinion that all petrol comes from the same source.

I do know as an absolute certainty that there is no link between BP's Oil exploration / drilling and the pumps at the franchised BP petrol stations.

I see Ferraris, Mercs, M5's, Evo's, Scoobys and all sorts at my local Tescos.

I accept that some companies (at retail) do add aditives, such as detergents, but this is on top of the same wholesale fuel that the Supermarkets are buying.

Why do people believe that Supermarket fuels are any different to a standard fuel from a brand?

Because they are normally noticibly different ;)

Many supermarkets use low octane eastern european fuel, stuffed with ethanol to get the octane up....

Is that a qualified statement?

What makes Easter European fuel any lower in octane than fuel from elsewhere?

Why would a retail outlet spend more money than it had to on it's fuel than the next outlet?

No problems at any of the branded suppliers.

But was that down to wholesale supply or was it down to Supermarket's back end handling & distribution?

And what about Supermarket Diesel?
Is that 'inferior' too?

I find if I use Tesco/Asda diesel for more than a tank or 2, it starts to smoke a bit.  A couple of tanks of branded cures it.  So I'd say there must be a different in diesel as well.

Did you, or another member, not say last year that BP supplied Sainsbury's with fuel? Would this be the same as branded or would they bother to produce a different receipe?
