Smell of Petrol
« on: 04 March 2008, 09:29:33 »

Hello all, when I start my car in the mornings I get a smell of petrol for a few minutes, is this something to do with an auto choke ?
Thanks
Dave.   :-/   :o

could be that you have a manifold gasket slightly leaking or problem with the EGR valve. I assume you are saying petrol as in burnt petrol..

I shoud have a good look for any signs of leakage, you should not be smelling unburnt petrol.

Take the boot carpet up, there is a round inspection hatch,
phillips screw or 2 to undo...
Check the panel under this (fuel tank) is not corroded (and smelling)...

I has a slight exhausty smell a few weeks ago, but did have a (now blanked) faulty EGR valve.
