car runs smoothly enough but is there any underlying probs if i leave it or am i better replacing it.
cheers ;D  great work thru by the way, i know its not to technical but to an ex butcher now pen pusher its a big step for buttyman kind

I had exactly the same problem –Just finished clearing out the crud.

I used a small watchmaker’s screwdriver to bore out the solid crude in the two very small holes in the bit the plugs into the plenum shown on your diagram. Then used a garden hose to blast the whole unit out.
When you reassemble, remember to put a little Vaseline on the rubber rings on two pipes that plug into the throttle body and saddle valve that fits the hole in the top of the plenum. Stops them splitting…

Yes, the cavity behind the drillings is quite big.....so clear teh holes out and then blast through with compressed air.....ideally applying the air line ot the small hole so it throws the crudd out the back.

If it really is toast, I seem to recall they are not outrageously expensive - a few tens of £
