Autobox 2.5 1999
« on: 07 April 2008, 19:04:23 »

Have been talking to a mate.

He has the same model Omega as myself.

On occasions starting from cold the Auto box has slipped into winter mode within 200 yards of driving off.

He has been told it's also a safety setting on the autobox if the computer susses a problem.

Turning off the engine and restarting resets the box and it has never done it twice on the same journey.

It has happened about a dozen times he reckons and in hot and cold weather.

Any idea's?  55,000 miles on the car

going into limp straight away, implies electrical in my book. Possibly selector switch, but could be solenoids etc.

Winter mode or fault. Is it showing a gearbox fault on the display? G/box can drop into 3 when showing a fault.

That could be simply a switch fault then?
