bad gearchange

ok got 2.5 estate tourer 1998 91k on clock. since had it gear change not always smoth but today it didnt change up and panel said check auto box.. i turned it of and bacl on all ok... now my temp was bit warmer than normal think got water leak somewere.. i reckon i low on gear oil and its got hot and gone thinner hence gear change problem... what u lot reckon.....

Yeah, check oil level first... there's a how to somewhere...  I'd be tempted to oil and filter change pronto..

Hi.
   have you checked auto fluid level, if so may be worth considering doing a change of atf,

When you drop the large sump its bolted to the bottom of the gear box.

I would also check that the breather is seated correctly and not hanging down.

you have simular simptoms to what i first experianced last year which was due to water in the gearbox. so check the connection on the sid of the rad.

so when i topped up tuesday all i done was power stearing not gbox.. god i stupid .. put that up there with arcing out my braclet on live terminal of battery ( yes it hurt and burnt) ok ty

so dropping gearbox sump not a mision then.... after that change filter as mater of course and recheck all pipes etc .. so if chuck it on ramps at first to check stuff then just jack it to refill this be cool... sry to sound stupid but never had car with this much tec on it .. and do really love this thing best drive i had for years.. just few problems but think it all related sort one will stop rest happening
