Good Afternoon,

I have a 2.0L 16v Auto Facelift with AirCon.

I bought what I believed to be a replacement sensor, but there are some subtle differences between the one in the car at the moment and my replacement. They both have four wires, but the connector is different. Also, the part of the sensor that sits inside the exhaust is shorter on my replacement. Can I simply snip the connector off the old one and wire it onto the new one, or do I need an exact replacement?

Did you buy a universal sensor or a genuine one? The 2L uses a titania sensor, unlike most other cars who use a zirconia sensor. They work in completely different ways and can not be interchanged.

If it's a genuine one, there are two different versions of the sensor for x20xev. The difference between them is different connector and cable lengths.
If your replacement has a red wire, it is most likely a titania sensor. The red wire is signal ground, the black wire is signal and the two with same colour (probably white) are the heater cables.
