Keys- A lot of hassle !!
« on: 30 April 2008, 00:12:33 »

Hi,
Can anyone help with few key queries?
Problem: Two button type key. No Carpass. I only have one key and switches are getting dodgy and I need to get it repaired by Martin Imber.
Need to get additional key and programmed first. Vx quote is £120+ for key and carpass.
and local Auto Locksmith quote £145.00

Following Lizzie Zoom's thread, I checked on Pots of Gold site for parts to make up new key.
I have checked my key, it is Kiekert 03 and with other number on PC board 5468_00. Phoned Pots of Gold, they do not know if the Kiekert 5442 that they have will be compatible.
Also, their blade, type H does not come with chip in blade housing.

Where do I get a chip, and has any one info on compatability of Kiekert transponders.

Sorry Roger but apart from the info gathered on my thread I can add little more. :'(

However one observation is that at least your Vx dealer has stated they can supply a key; in respect of my 3-button type they just said "batteries" was the only part now available! :-?

On the point about the chip; is it possible that the one chip in your sole key can be replicated by a local specialist car security firm.  There is a firm near me that I am fairly sure can do this.  I note you live in Southampton so I am sure there must be a number of specialist firms who can help you out on this close to where you live.

I hope this helps :y

I got new h blade incl new transponder chip off ebay for under £8.
Also TB can supply these i think.
Car pass needed to program key to car with tech2.

Can also get 2nd hand fobs off ebay for £10 - £20.

I got new blade + transponder, got it cut by tame key cutter (he can set up any key by copying from existing bar Vx who wont supply software!), fitted an old fob which synced ok, go it proged by tb - good working key for less than £30.

mine cost me £80 brand new, from a mobile car key specialist in my area, try your local locksmith to see who they recommend. The guy came to my  house n did it, i was wary of getting one from ebay as they may not be correct or working ok.

i get horseshoe blades with transponder fot under a tenner.  Remote fob, likely to be megamos, but confirm by looking at yours.  Carpass - try different dealers. Programming, again shop around (shame you're not closer, as I'm probably cheapest in country).

Martin Imber can't do prefacelift switches iirc
