Dipsticks....need a favour
« on: 08 May 2008, 08:18:35 »

Having just fitted the FWD engine we have discovered that the dipstick is a little short and now doesn't show any oil on it.

the car had 5.75 liters in it when we put the new filter on so we know there is enough in there currently, i do however want a working dipstick (aside from my son  ;D ).

Would someone be so kind as to measure their dipstick from the tip to the bottom of the bung  :y

thanks in advance

Looking at the EPC the dipsticks have different part numbers for different engine numbers ... :(

So be sure that the one that is checked/measured matches your engine !! Sorry Jez .. your info might be useless .. but then again ....  :)

The "breakpoint" is apparently engine no's  to part no's

08000001- 08115671    90467274
08115672- 08304285   (90529831) (NLS use 9202056)
08304286-                   9202056

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

Dipstick on my old car was permanently too short!!   ::) ::) ::)

Seriously though... Definitely worth getting the right one but I'm sure you don't need to go to a stealer. There's enough guys on here who break cars... Surely one of them will be able to help???
