it's a bummer when that happens but there's lots to chose from. I'm new to mig ownership but I was spoilt for choice at the end of the day. I got a 2.5 saloon cdx 95k FSH but in need of tyres and exhaust Long T&T for the grand sum of 450 quid. I think for your 3.6k you should be getting a mint 03 plate model with the pick of the engines

I also looked at a 52 plate in a saloon ... it was quite nice but it had some weird marks on the rear wing ... it was like some kind of corrosive had been splattered on it .. lots of little circles had left little marks which to me looked as if it had gone through the top laquer...he is going to see if a good valet can get it out but i dont think it will ... i saw it and thought it was just dried rain drops till i had a good look ... hopefully i'll get a call tomorrow to say is been polished or buffed away i think it was not bad value at £2600 with 70'000 miles on it .... there doesnt seem to be many miggys in my area .. :-/

Also, if you do buy from a dealer.

Then remember that anything you are not happy with when buying from them you talk nicely and they will probably sort it.  Paint work and tyres included.  The marks on some cars these days are from people looking round them and kids messing arround etc.  So they will probably sort that as well.

You keep pushing and pushing and you wouldnt believe what you can get a salesman to throw in in.  Marks on the paintwork many years ago would have been done before the car was offered for sale, these days they are lazy, but in a sence that falls in your favour as you get to see what you are buying and not what they are covering up.

Also get them to chuck a warranty in, but go through the motions as if you were buying it as there are different options, some of which will not include electrical or other areas of the car. this will help find out what level of warranty covers what.

The con on the warrantys is that they dont activate them till something goes wrong, they take your money of course.  So if they are selling a good car they would not hiccup to give a good warranty cover.

Allways worth a try.

6 months tax
12 months MOT
Set of mats
Part/full Valet
Service
Cambelt change. (or warrany on any engine aspect)
Tyres
Tank of fuel.
Better Stereo

Plus a warranty

are just some of things I had including discounts for paying cash.

Cheek gets you everywhere.  Remember they want your trade.  Most of the cars they have sat there for sale are costing them in bank charges.

They would rather take a small profit than not getting a sale at all.   :y :y

If the car cleans up im getting most of what you mention above ... im just worried knowing my luck these marks are worse than it looks ... running my nail over them they feel like they have gone through the top layer of laquer ... if its going to need a spray job then i dont think i will bother ... but im not sure if a good buff and polish will remove them ... its like its been splattered with something corrosive ... lots of little craters if you like ...
 Cheers

Little crators? hmmm I wonder if what your seeing is the result of the part being sprayed before and the paint has reacted with some silicon left behind.

Sounds like it been resprayed and then left out in the open before its dried properly and damp has got to it.......

Im no paint expert........but i had the veccyB tailgate reprayed by a bodyshop.......and was keen to get it back.....so when i turned up to pick it up it was still in an oven on gas mark 7 i reckon.....blimey it was hot in the oven......the whole car was in the oven.

Paint sprayer reckoned he was trying get the paint to go off quicker than norm.......coz he reckoned if i took it away now (it was evening) and the paint hadnt properly gone off the damp would cause an unwanted 'effect' .
