2.5 V6 Cylinder Head Query

Hi,need to remove and replace the drivers side head as it's damaged,question is are all heads the same (mines a 1997) and when i replace the head will i have to use the cams and bearings from the replacement head too,...many thanks..Wayne

Bearing are matched with heads, do not mix as they are line bored

Thanks Mark!, don't suppose you have a driver's side head for sale!...going to ring local scrappy tomorrow,it's for my Dads Omega and he's supposed to be off on his holidays friday,are all 2.5 V6 heads the same?

I have a pair of 3.0 heads here but the squish are is different - compression lower, on a 2.5.

use the cam shells to match the head, or the engine won't last long!

The cams can be interchanged but make sure you keep the cam bearing caps with the head, as already mentioned. It is critical that these are not only kept with the head but also refitted in the same location and the same orientation as they were originally.

Thanks for reply Kevin,going to have a go hopefully today/tomorrow if i can get cam locking tool and all parts required,not looking forward to it as iv'e not done any work on the Vauxhall v6 heads before,trying to get it up and running again so my Dad can get on his holidays this weekend....Wayne

Just be methodical, take plenty of photos so you know where everything was. The cam bearing caps are numbered from front to back on one side of the cap, so just remember where the markings were and you can't go wrong. I normally try to store them on a tray in the same sequence that they were on the engine so it's easy.
