Brake pads

does anyone know if changing the pads on 2002 2.2 omega (auto)are easy to change?if there are any pics of how to do it that would be good,thanks

Front or rear? They're both pretty easy but if you're not confident... DON'T do it... Brakes are a vital part of the car!!!

This is a little more info than you need for doing the rears but it's all there http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152564750

As for the fronts... Can't see a how to on a quick search but they aren't difficult... I'd advise a copy of Mr Haynes as his instructions for brakes are spot on!!

Front pads a doddle ...  20 minutes a side max ...  if you do the discs as well .. about 45 mins a side .....  and that includes jacking time .. :)

Never done the rear ones so can't comment  :)

The fronts are particularly easy to change, you undo a bolt on the caliper and most of it then pivots upwards and out of the way, leaving you with easy access to the pads.  None of this hammering away at rusted retaining pins malarkey you get with some cars.

One problem - wear sensors on front pads, they tend to break as you try to detach them, £7 each to replace, also use 'copper slip' on all pad to calliper contact surfaces, to stop brake squeal.  ;) ;)

also file a 45 degree edge on the leading edge of pad...

Interesting ! the last set of front pads I had from Vx had a 45 deg lead in edge.

Back to my "copper slip", sorry I think the name was"Moly-slip High Temperture Copper Grease", in any event use it as it stops 'brake squeal', file the edges as well.
