Where abouts is the pump located for the self leveling suspension?

Under the front bumper, driver's side. The fuse for it is No 27
When I first got my car, I discovered that someone prvious had swapped the standard selflevellers for standard dampers & pulled the plug from the compressor.  :-? Maybe someone previous to has also tried to 'improve' the ride height!

So the sensor is at the rear trailing arm, which then sends a signal to the front bumper which then pumps air all the way back to the rear shocks?

Surely not. I'm not questioning you, more the designer if this is the case.

I just switched from Elite with self levelling to MV6 springs which as a vast improvement and then the MV6 shocks (non-self levelling) all round will be fitted Tuesday.

Much better .

Do you know if WIM fit wishbones?

Yes, and yes they do. SP_3.2 (Steve) was having his fitted whilst I was down there having my MV6 springs fitted. He'll be able to tell you what they charged him too.

Mine needs new ones, and front shocks, might as well have the whole lot done, and the alignment done straight after.

Do we know if they will fit parts that the customer provides?

I know some places won't fit stuff you give them...

Used to, not sure how.  Ring them - trust me, they are friendly and helpful. Or PM WIM, either here or on their forum.

Yes they will. SP_3.2 took his own wish-bones along. I took my own (2nd hand) MV6 springs down and I'm going there on Tuesday with my brand new MV6 shocks on Tuesday. They do carry some more common parts such as steering idler linkages, but they fully expect you to come down with parts espcially as they know you as a TC card holder can probably get them cheaper than they can.

As TB says, give them a call, they are exceedingly nice, reasonable and down to earth blokes. Tony will answer the phone and is the owner and technical Wizard, but Mark who works on the front office will reassure you about what you can do.

When I went down they fitted the springs and as they were putting the car back together the shock mounting bolt snapped. Mark jumped in the pick-up, rushed out to a local scrapyard and came back with a small box full of bolts about 3/4 of an hour later. No charge.

Then when I was ready to leave I didn't have enough cash on me (underestimated teh cost of fitting the springs: my fault)  and they let me go, no questions, and trusted me to come back and settle up in a couple of weeks when I was getting the shocks fitted.

I can't stress enough how much I agree with TB and that you should call them mate.

Are the Police Estate rear shocks and springs not heavy duty?

Just checked the rear shocks and don't have any thin pipes going to the shocks at all, but I have noticed that there is a single wire which has been tied up with a multiplug on, number 27 fuse is in the fuse box. Does this mean I have self leveling suspension but someone has put standard shock on or my 97 3.0ltr Elite dosen't have it?

Have you got a compressor under the bumper? I doubt whether the previous owner has removed all the plastic tubing from the front to the back of the car. The air supply is via a single tube & then splits into two IIRC near the diff.
I thought all Elites had self levellers on.

Sounds like it infinitely possible and highly probable. Have you got a small black box on the chassis at the rear of the car near the driver's side trailing arm with a flat metal bar and a rod with two plastic ball joints (one at each end).

That is the self-levelling sensor and often easier to find than the pump.

I think that 'Police' and MV6 are the same spec on the suspension front.

I will check this in the morning albatross. The last time I was underneath the car I didn't notice one, but at the same time I wasn't looking for one. The other thing is I haven't noticed any tubing going towards the rear shocks just a thin cable with a multipug on. I will take some pics tomorrow to clarify.

It's a bloody big thing .... compared to the level sensor!
