EML Light Keeps Coming On
« on: 02 June 2008, 22:59:50 »

Dont know if anyone can answer this.

My 2.0 1998 auto estate keeps bringing on the eml. I have done the paperclip test and come up with codes 0340 & 0335. Now if im right 0340 is the cam sensor and 0335 is the crank sensor.

However looking at the codes in the maintenance section it says that 0335 is incorrect rpm signal???? This is confusing me, but which one will it be??

Help please as I have my MOT in 7 Days!!

The code means the crank sensor is in its' way out (crank sensor provides the ECU with its' RPM signal). I would change it following the maintenance guide befor eit lets you down.

Both Cam and crank sensors need replacing.

Cam is easy enough, crank is challenging if you have aircon...

Crank sensor was changed 2 weeks ago and crank cam sensor is about 3 months old. If the timing had slipped would this cause the same codes??

My Cavalier suffered with EML problems for ages, bringing up cam and crank sensor faults. Turned out the Cambelt had stretched slightly amd was knocking the timing out a fraction.
