car alarm

driving along suddenly car alarm goes off  lasted 30 or so seconds


any ideas why?

Mine was doing this when new, power sounder horn replaced by Vx under warranty resolved the problem.

But - I also had the occasional 4 beeps from under the bonnet, which means that the internal rechargeable batteries inside the power sounder died (prematurely, I may add).

If this is your problem, then the batteries can be obtained seperately and replaced albeit soldeing is required. You other option is a complete replacement power-sounder (around £100 from Vx, less if second-hand), or just disconnect it and live without it....

However.... if it only happened the once, I would suggest to just ignore it and see how frequently it comes back before taking further action.
