Autobox Filter clean or renew?

Hi folks,
What do you recon, main stealers want £80 ish for one  :o  can they be cleaned instead?  ;) If so whats best to clean em with?

Get it confirmed from other forum members, but I believe it may be possible to clean them with petrol.

If your a memeber of Autobahn Stormers theres a bloke on there that sells the filter and gaskets for £35 delivered :y

On a cheap car I'd clean it out with petrol.
On anything any good I'd replace it.
