If it's the pad then the rattle will stop when the brakes are applied, and reappear when they are released.

As I mentioned I first found the caliper slider seized, but after releasing that still  the  rattle, so if there isnt an antirattle spring, and some one says there should be,  what keeps the pad opposite the piston tight?
By the way yes the rattle does stop if I apply the brakes, and then comes back on after resleasing the brakes.

There should be an anti-rattle spring riveted to each pad, the caliper presses against these and forces the pads rearwards into the pad carrier.

Solved :)

Strange but on both sides, the outside pad had the spring was missing!
When fitting the new pads, genuine Vauxhall ones,  one had a rubber film on the other just bare metal (like the one in the picture), otherwise looked the same, which one fits next to the piston?

One other thing the disc pad wear sensors, that clip into the pad, one seems very very loose, the other I broke trying to pry off the old disc pad! Are there different sizes?

Anyway need to go and get 2 more pad sensor wires and fit them.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help, its much appreciated :y

Pad without the rubber pad goes to the caliper piston.....pad with rubber pad goes to the slider frame.

And note the directional arrows on the pad.
