Harsh idle when warm - any ideas?
« on: 23 June 2008, 20:44:26 »

Since replacing the exhaust manifold gasket, my Mig has got a very bad habit.  As soon as it gets warm, the idle sits pretty stable (sits about 750rpm), but seems very harsh, more like an early 80's diesel and rattling the exhaust like hell - not to mention the gear selector!

I would have understood if it was bad before i replaced the blowing gasket (by upsetting the lambda values), but now its leak-free, its terrible!

No fault codes and the mpg has improved (slightly) from 30 to 31mpg.  ISCV and all breathers done a month ago (when i swapped the engines).

Only way i can stop it is a VERY slight pressure on the throttle and 2-foot it at junctions etc.  Then its smooth as silk again.

PLugs and leads new - but there is no misfiring at all - all 4 present and correct.  Could it have "over-trimmed" and will take an age to get back to normal?

Also quick aside - if I fit the LPG without the Lambda correction, i guess it'll EML out on me - but will it go into limp-home or just tell me its not happy?
