To the LPG experts out there, i am going to start fitting a kit in the near future. I was wondering if someone could give me a list with pics or a diagram if poss as to where you need to tap into the cars wiring loom for fitting the kit, what colour wires and what pins etc....
My car is a 2.5 Elite 1999, a mini-facelift with short plenum.

Tap into

Green wire for RPM

The injectors via a supplied loom.

Battery for +12V

Possibly the Lambda probes - see Jay W and Kevin Wood

I've had it in mind that we need a HOWTO for LPG upgrades as there seems to be quite some interest currently. All the installs so far have been under too much time pressure to do this properly but as I'm sitting on a big box of bits for mine at the moment I hope that will soon change.

Could you give me the basics please Kevin as to where i need to tap into and what colour/pins etc...... please.

I will look up p[in numbers, etc. later, but it's easy on the earlier ECU because you can remove the plastic cover from the ECU multiway connector and solder to the back of the pins of the connector with a fine soldering iron if you are careful. I used the black wire to the ECU for +12v ignition switched, the light green wire for the tacho signal and also picked up the 2 lambda sensor inputs. Can't remember the colours for them but I'll look up the ECU pin numbers later.

OK. X25XE / X30XE pin numbers:

+12v switched: ecu pin 27/black
RPM: 43/Green
Lambda sensors: 28/Brown&Blue, 47/Brown&Blue

The pins are numbered round the edge of the connector base, IIRC.

Yes, I have the kit, bar the vapouriser which is to follow. Hopefully I can tackle a fair bit of the front end this weekend.

I'm not sure if they're all the same but on mine each lambda wire disappeared into a grey screened cable. The change takes place inside the actual ECU plug and I spent ages trying to pinpoint the correct Brown/Blue wire in the loom (theres about 8 of them!)

I ended up pulling the ECU plug apart which I am glad I did because when it had been originaly assembled a couple of wires had been trapped & crushed almost to breaking point.

Pinouts spot on though & a great help.

Yep. I removed the cover from the connector and soldered directly to the back of the pins. Saves damaging the wires. Bit of a different matter on the 2.6/3.2 ECU though.
