mine doesnt have the markings on it to line up with the timing marks on the cams - how do i go about getting it on, just place it on, make sure its all solid and check the timing using the locking kit tool?

Hi,
Yup, thats all there is to it.  Just follow instructions ignoring anything about lining up belt marks, and check out and adjust to the timing marks on the plate in the belt fitting kit.

To get the belt over the 3 and 4 cam drive pulleys you will probably have to turn the crankshaft back just a little bit to take the tension off the run between the cranshaft pulley and the 3 and 4 cam pulleys, as the guide pulley on your engine version is a fixed position type.

Also, on your engine, the top centre adjustable pulley between 2 an 3 is extended further towards the 3 pulley which makes it more difficult to get the belt back under and round this pulley, but it will go with gentle persuasion.  Don't forget to move crank pulley back to TDC after you get belt over the 3 and 4 pulleys. Even though the guide pulley on this run is fixed, you will find that the timing for the 3 and 4 pulleys will be spot on.

TBH, I found it easier to do the job without any marks than with a belt with markings.
