cooling system leak
« on: 20 July 2008, 12:47:45 »

iv been chasing this leak for months.. now i think iv found it. getting to it i could do with some advise...i only loose water in certain heater positions (this is an r plated 2.5 elite with climate control) iv found it using mirrors. underneath the dis pack is a pipe (prob about 40mm) which goes into a fitting on the engine. there doesn't seem to be any clip on it. whats the easiest way to get at it? apart from taking the n/s exhaust manifold off..any help is appreciated

Are you referring to the steel water pipe that attaches to the rear of the block.

If so, plenum off, inlet off and remove the bypass valve and hoses etc at the back.

Then two bolts at the rear and one under the 1-3-5 bank engine mount and you will find it has a rubber O -ring in it.

replace the O ring (I use a little sealent to old it in) and clean the block and pipe mating surfaces well and re-fit.

need help.its not coming from where i thought. the water only comes out when \the engine is running. and only when the heater is on. if i turn off the climate control i don't loose any. its not coming from the hbv. it seems to be coming from somewhere under the rear of the n/s exhaust manifold.. any body got any ideas???has anyone got a photo of that side of the engine wish the manifold removed??

Have you taken the Plenum, inlet manifold off like Mark suggested?
Is it the steel pipe that you think is leaking? or is it the coolant bridge?
Have a look at this link this will show you what the coolant bridge is.... :y
