Sump plug Torx size?
« on: 31 July 2008, 12:07:12 »

Quickie Question:

Please, does anyone know the exact size of Torx bit I need for the sump plug on the 2.5 V6?

I have been out and bought oil and filter this morning (32 mile round-trip)....`got back ready to drop the oil but now I`ve jacked it up on the axle stands but I can`t find a Torx bit to fit; I`ll have to ring round and see if any more-local vendors have a Torx bit in stock of the right size. :-/

Thanks Mark; I`ll have ring`round and see if anyone has one. :y

EDIT: Spot-on with the size Mark: I located a T45 x 3/8" Torx bit locally for £2.99.....I`ve dropped the oil (whilst hot) and now just got to have a wrestle with that darned filter-housing. ;)

I have a threaded adapter to hand so `going to change the filter to be a 'spin-on'. :y

I am pretty sure it's actually a T40? I seem to recall using a T45 on one that was rounded once though...

Hiya James; no, my 'old' sump plug was definitely a T45 Torx......I took the precaution of buying a spare plug from the motor factors (in case I had my usual Debs` 'bad-luck' leaks) and that was T45 also.
All sorted now. :y

Thanks for the help. ;)
