Tech 2 ("My Naff Code Reader") in Manchester
« on: 10 August 2008, 20:52:59 »

Hey all

Bought me a tech 2 from ebay and have managed to code myself a key and fob to the immobiliser and alarm system respectively. Only system that wont talk to it is the Climate Control.

If anyone's struggling with fault codes and the like or needs to code a key and wants to save some cash from the dealers stealers - for some beer money I'd be willing to try and help

I think the ebay ones are using an old, illegal version of the software - I may be wrong though.  Can you update it, or does that break it?

Ended up paying £25 - the software came on a cd so haven't tried to update it. TBH that's half the price Vauxhall wanted to even put down their coffee and code the key for me.

Also managed to diagnose a couple of duff sensors too. [smiley=grin.gif]

Didn't think you could code keys with the cheapo Tech 2, just read codes.

TBH I don't know about the other ones - this is usb and a little buggy, but has managed to code the immobiliser and alarm system successfully, and removed the old keys which are knocking about with the previous owners!

Nah, tis all in English but with being usb only can take a couple of retries but gets there in the end.

Overall am impressed, had fun switching on fans, lights and various bits and bobs from the laptop [smiley=embarassed.gif]

Mmmm? I wouldn't mind one of my Astra G's keys being Tech II'd to the remote locking. The chip already talks to the car.
